Just a short walk from High Street Yea, you can lose yourself in the peace and tranquillity of the natural bush and the impressive riverine floodplain that is the Yea Wetlands.

Featuring a cable suspension bridge and many interesting boardwalks along the way, be sure to watch for platypus or rakali (native water rats) foraging for food along the riverbed.

As you walk along the Franklin Track, the Daabani Biik Butganani Yanath is a self-guided immersive audio tour that was developed alongside the Franklin Baring (Franklin Track) and sculpture Trail which features four sculptures by Taungurung Artist Sammy Trist, deepening cultural storytelling and knowledge. The Kayigai Trail and the Wetlands loop offer other alternatives to explore and view nature as it opens up naturally before you.

Be sure to look up in the trees occasionally for koalas and take the ramp off the bridge that leads to a cleared area popular for picnics, functions or just relaxing. You'll be surprised at the native birds, plants and animals that you will discover.

After walking you begin to understand that Yea's best kept secret is a very special, unique place just waiting to be explored.

Dogs are also welcome on a lead.
