Masons Falls

Masons Falls is nestled in Kinglake National Park, the largest and closest national park to Melbourne, making it an ideal spot for a day trip or weekend getaway. Masons Falls offers a fantastic and relatively short walk to an impressive waterfall of 1.5km return. Particularly impressive after rain, the lookout platform provides a great view towards the falls.

Whilst short, there are some slightly steeper sections and this provides a good opportunity to take your time and keep an eye out for native birds such as fairy wrens and thornbills amongst others.

Masons Falls Picnic Area has all the amenities you will need for an enjoyable picnic, including barbecues, tables, shelters and toilets. All trails lead from this fantastic picnic area, perfect for kids to run wild along a section of the Lyrebird Track. This short loop can be added onto the walk and as the name suggests, you may be lucky enough to spot one of these reclusive birds.

GETTING THERE

Travel to Kinglake West along the Whittlesea-Kinglake Road then turn on to National Park Road (should be signposted to Masons Falls) and drive roughly 4km to the park entrance where you can then turn right and follow the road to Masons Falls Picnic Area.
