Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk

Rated #1 by TripAdvisor, the Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk should definitely be on your bucket list. The boardwalk circuit takes in the sounds and scents of the rainforest. The environment is cool, damp and characterised by Myrtle Beech and Sassafras trees. The walk is approximately 2km in length, so a great one for families with little ones in tow. A grade 2 walk, it’s suitable for most ages and fitness levels.

It’s even fur family friendly!

The walking trail is lush with ferns and other greenery, with streams flowing beneath the walkways. In summary, Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk is incredibly lush and the sounds of the wildlife in the area are simply beautiful. It’s a must do!

After something a little more challenging?

The Tanglefoot Loop is a spectacular walk through the majestic Mountain Ash forest of the Toolangi State forest and has added to the appeal of an area that has been attracting walkers for many years. The track, which delves into fern gullies and cool, temperate rain forests, provides a magical experience for visitors. The track is approx. 10km one way, taking about 3 hours.

Myrtle Gully Circuit is another trail that you can attempt, approximately 8km return from the Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk Carpark. Be sure to boot up as the trail can be very muddy and streams of water have been found going down the paths in wetter months.
