🌿💦STEAVENSON FALLS🌿💦

🤔Did you know that the spectacular Steavenson Falls were opened to tourists back in 1866? One of our region’s most iconic waterfalls and a highlight of any trip to Marysville, the falls plummet 84 metres into the Steavenson River Valley and flow all year round.

🥾An easy and level 700m walk takes you from the car park to the base of the falls, with options to view from a bridge in front of the falls, platforms either side or from the top via a steep 800m walk.

💡The falls are floodlit between dusk and midnight, and on very special occasions you may also encounter snow.

😍If you haven’t visited already, be sure to add this one to your bucket list!

💦🌿 PHANTOM FALLS 💦🌿

😍 As the name suggests, these falls can be a little elusive. Let’s just say they aren’t as large or as easy to get to as say Steavenson Falls. In saying that, they’re totally worth the effort to get to!

🚗🐎 Located 8.4km from Marysville along the picturesque Lady Talbot Drive, Phantom Falls cascades over granite boulders before disappearing into the lush fern gully below.

🥾 From the carpark, the walk to get to the falls is 1.6km return. But don’t be deceived by its short distance, as it does have a few steep climbs. It will take about 45 minutes to complete the walk (return). And if you’re arriving on horseback like this group of local riders, getting there is half the fun!

💦🌿Walk highlights include the two bridge crossings, one across the Taggerty River and a second across Phantom Creek at the falls. After you cross this second bridge, the walk to the top is only a short distance. Once at the top you can catch a snippet of the falls up close, flowing across a smooth rock face before disappearing again down into the understorey of the forest.

The journey to get here can be just as much fun as the destination itself! Planning a visit to @discoverdindi? Did you know there are numerous scenic routes you can take?! And one of the best bits, they’re all within a few hours of Melbourne. Here’s just a few 👇

🚗 Follow the Maroondah Highway to Healesville and over the beautiful Black Spur, stopping on the other side for some lunch or refreshments at the @blackspurinn. From here there’s options aplenty, with nearby Marysville, @lakemountainresort and the Cathedral Range State Park. Venture a bit further still to explore Lake Eildon National Park and the country towns of Eildon and Alexandra.

🚗 Jump onto the Hume Highway heading north towards Victoria’s High Country and take the Broadford/Flowerdale exit to Strath Creek, before stopping at Murchison Gap Lookout for spectacular views of the Valley of a Thousand Hills. Wind your way down the hill where you can stretch the legs and give the kids some time at the playground, or head across the road to @thegeneralstrathcreek to enjoy a delicious brunch and stock up on local supplies. Less than half an hour from here is the township of Yea, the @greatvictorianrailtrail and @yeawetlands.

🚗 Take the Whittlesea exit off Plenty Road and onto Whittlesea-Yea Road which brings you to Kinglake West. Allow some time to explore the @dindiartstrail, with 10 murals spread across the Kinglake Ranges, Toolangi and Flowerdale. Or if you’re visiting on the fourth Sunday of the month, be sure to checkout the @kinglakemarket. Continue your journey to the stunning Yea Valley where you can sample cool climate wines, wood fire pizzas and local artisan platters at @philiplobleywines and @sedonaestate. If you’ve got energy to burn, make your way to nearby Murrindindi Scenic Reserve with a range of hiking trails on offer.

⚠️ Note – a section of the Melba Highway will be closed from 17 February to the end of March 2025 (reopening for the Labour Day long weekend). This does not impact any of the routes mentioned above. For more info, visit the @transport.victoria website.

Is there anything better than summer lake vibes? It’s a High Country thing! 😍

🤔 Did you know #LakeEildon has over 500km of shoreline and at full capacity can store six times as much water as Sydney Harbour? The lake is fed by clear mountain rivers and surrounded by rolling hills, dense forest and open woodland, making it the perfect backdrop for epic sunrises and sunsets.

🚤 🎣 💦 Lake Eildon is a mecca for lovers of water sports including skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Hire a houseboat from @watersedgehouseboathire or book a boatel at @jerusalemcreek for a truly special experience. Nothing is more relaxing than spending a few days out on the water, watching the world go by from the comfort of your own private lounge, or from the top deck as you cast a line and watch the kids swim.

🧺 🎶 ⛺️ The lake can be accessed via the township of #Eildon, home to the Eildon Twilight Market and annual Opera at the Pondage. There are plenty of caravan parks, national park camping and accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets.

Got the post festive season blues? 🥹 Now is the time to start planning your next lake adventure in @seehighcountry !
