COVID-19 Update – What’s Open?

Murrindindi Shire is pleased to welcome back visitors to our region. Please follow all social distancing guidelines and respect measures put in place by our local businesses.

Road Closures

LADY TALBOT DRIVE – Lady Talbot Drive, near Marysville, is closed while tree hazard assessment and management work is undertaken. This includes access to Phantom Falls, Keppel Falls, Taggerty River Cascades and The Beeches Walk. For more information, click here.

EILDON SPILLWAY BRIDGE – Bridge access at Eildon Spillway will be closed next Monday 18 January 2021 between 8.00am and 5.00pm to undertake important maintenance works by Goulburn – Murray Water. The dam crest, viewing area, public boat ram and parking areas will still be accessible via Sugarloaf Road and Eildon Alliance Drive. For more information, click here.

Lake Eildon

Goulburn-Murray Water is warning the public to avoid contact with water in Lake Eildon after monitoring detected high levels of blue-green algae. The warning applies to all areas of Lake Eildon, including Bonnie Doon. Visitors to Lake Eildon can still sightsee and enjoy other activities that do not involve direct contact with the water. Lake Mountain Alpine Resort

Lake Mountain is open again for hiking and mountain biking. Shuttle buses are running daily for mountain bikes but you need to pre-book tickets to use this service. You can find out more and book tickets here.

Steavenson Falls

Steavenson Falls are open and weekends, particularly between 1.00pm and 4.30pm, have been very busy. We ask visitors to avoid these times where possible.

The Great Victorian Rail Trail

The Great Victorian Rail Trail is open for business and it’s a great time of year to tackle some, or all of this iconic trail.

Our Visitor Centres at Marysville (MiRa), Yea (Y Water Discovery Centre) and Alexandra are now open. For opening hours see here.

To help support a COVIDSafe summer we have a number of areas allocated for outdoor dining in our townships across the region. Please enjoy these areas and respect others by keeping them clean and maintaining social distancing.
