MURRINDINDI SCENIC RESERVE

One of the lesser known gems of our region, the Murrindindi Scenic Reserve is a great spot offering a bit of everything. There's a range of bushwalking, multiple camping areas, a picturesque river for water play as well as bird watching and fishing opportunities.

Bushwalking

The reserve offers a number of trails including short strolls along the river to longer and more challenging loops taking in one of the reserve's highlights, Wilhelmina Falls. The falls drop 75m over granite rock and flow throughout the year. The walk takes in a great viewing spot at the base of the falls and the upper viewing platform provides a panorama of the surrounding mountain range.

The Murrindindi River Walk which passes through most of the camping spots is a great place to begin to explore. It's 12 km end to end and leads up to the Murrindindi Cascades for those after a challenge or enjoy a shorter walk taking in one of the many footbridges crossing the river amongst open forest and fern gullies.

Camping

Offering 6 separate camping areas, all located close to the river there really is something for everyone. Some campsites are accessible by car whilst others require visitors to walk in, adding that extra level of bush experience. Camping fees are modest and basic facilities are located at all sites.

The cost to camp in the Murrindindi Scenic Reserve is approx. $6 per car, per night. A small van is $17, large vehicles are $28 per night. A motorhome is classed as a car. Registration is via an honesty box at the Information Board so please remember to pck money before you go. Murrindindi Scenic Reserve is patrolled by a ranger who checks that camping fees have been paid.

These fees go towards the ongoing upkeep and maintenance of the Reserve and its facilities to ensure it remains attractive and usable for future visitors.
